RF Engineering & Design

A network is only as good as its design. A properly designed network should be capable of handling huge loads and providing a clear connection even when the load on the network increases. By taking the time to properly design a radio frequency network, your organization can save costs and provide better connectivity throughout the area. A good design will also ensure that the network works even in times of negative environmental factors. As a systems provider, we carry out RF engineering and design services to keep your company working smoothly without interruptions.

First and foremost, we perform site surveys at the physical location to discover the current status and environmental factors and determine the best options in terms of number of access points and where they will be placed. This is done in order to provide an optimal network configuration that will service the area properly. The initial survey is also important as it provides a basis from which other improvements and installations can be done. In the future you may want to increase the strength and reach of your signal in certain areas to cater for a region that is outside the initial plan. Survey data comes in useful at this point since the network will only need a slight modification in order to service your new areas of interest.

The design engineers that we work with have had years of experience designing and implementing RF networks in different projects. As such, they have the latest tools to establish the Wi-Fi RF model and placement. You can therefore rest assured that your network will be designed and installed by the very best in the field. No matter how small or large the network you are installing may be, you can rest easy knowing that the models our engineers make are stable, high performance and structurally integral. Network Integration & Validation

At MSA Systems, we provide world-class network integration and validation services. We are specialists in the design, installation, configuration, expansion, and maintenance of all types of Wi-Fi networks for Enterprise level organizations. All our services are backed by extended guarantees and first class customer service. Here is a brief outline of the features and benefits of our network integration and validation services.

Network Integration

We provide seamless network integration to ensure that all network services are always available to end-users. This involves the effective end-to-end connection of disparate network access technologies such as Wi-Fi, EDGE, HSPA, LTE and others. Our engineers are well trained and fully equipped to configure each network segment to permit Wi-Fi access with adequate security both on-site and from a remote locations. We implement a global service delivery system which provides inter-connectivity between various networks and application servers.

Network Validation

Before the final network is deployed, we carry out rigorous end-to-end testing of all network communication on a model of the network. During the validation process, our engineers conduct a traffic route test to measure the quality of the network signals, the network performance, and its reliability. This is done with the same type of call or data traffic models that will be used on the final production network. In addition, all network elements are validated to verify that the inter-operation of multi-vendor network components does not lead to undue complexity or technical errors.

Key Benefits of Our Integration and Validation Services

  • Elimination of the cost of defective network infrastructure: Our rigorous testing methods will lead to a drastic reduction in the number of defects that will occur after the final network solution is deployed. This will drastically reduce the number of repairs and adjustments required and result in a high performing network with minimal downtime.
  • Reduction in the time required for deployment: The final network solution will be rolled out at a faster pace. Thus, your organization will start reaping the benefits of investment in new network infrastructure at a faster pace. The high performance of the network will also facilitate the deployment of applications and enable them to work more efficiently.
  • Cost savings on network maintenance: As a result of the optimum performance and minimal defects that will be encountered after the solution is deployed on the field, the cost of maintenance will be significantly reduced. This will automatically increase the benefit to cost ratio and help the network owners to be able to invest in newer and more powerful network elements in future.

Wi-Fi Network Planning & Design

With users increasingly becoming mobile, and business applications demanding greater bandwidth, advanced wireless services have become critical to helping organizations maintain agility, innovation, and differentiation. This environment requires IT managers to establish a highly integrated network that delivers high-performance rich media collaboration, secure mobility services, and better overall operating efficiency through solid integration of wireless and wired networks.

Wi-Fi network planning and design seeks to deliver seamless communication of multiple core network elements in varied deployments spanning several different configurations, while maintaining the flexibility of the current business to meet changing organizational demands. Whether it is a new design or existing application, the engineer must assess the application requirements to make informed decisions about which Wi-Fi technology to use. Some of the considerations when moving to wireless infrastructure include:

Identifying the application’s throughput requirements

When planning the network, it is important to identify the data rate that the application’s client devices will send and receive. This information is necessary to determine the most suitable Wi-Fi technology, as well as the appropriate number of access points to deliver the desired throughput.

Planning for throughput

Using 802.11n that can support up to 300 Mbps of available bandwidth does not necessarily mean that all signals from every access point will transmit at 300 Mbps. Client radios that are further from the access point tend to experience a lower signal to noise ratio, as the signal gets weaker towards the noise floor. As such, a coding scheme must be established to manage the interference in the channel or provide more access points in closer proximity to that user’s radio location.

Identifying the number of users accessing the Wi-Fi network

Considering that Wi-Fi employs a single collision zone for all devices connected to the network, only one device can transmit efficiently at a time. If multiple devices try to transmit simultaneously, it would lead to collisions that cause latency in the network. Organizations that intend to connect multiple devices to their network require multiple access points to reduce the number of collisions.

Designing the channel allocation plan

When using more than one access point, it is important to determine the channels that will be used on each adjacent access point to avoid overlapping and co-channel interference.

Wi-Fi Network Security and Access Control

Wireless networks is under constant challenge with steady stream of new apps, converged communications, cloud-based services, security and wireless solutions demanding an ever-increasing of a network’s finite bandwidth. When this is coupled with mobile devices, the network is forced to face greater complexities which often compromises with the security. Wireless survey allows recording of information from major areas of a wireless network such as access point locations, received signal strengths, network security, access control, RF interference and noise levels. This valuable information enables optimization of AP transmit power levels, access point channels and network security creating a more efficient and secure wireless network.

Access Control

MSA Systems enables granular control of network access. This prevents spyware and malware from infecting your network. The system checks the growing library of connections and then it performs a pre-connection risk assessment on every device that attempts to connect to the network. With hi-tech Wi-Fi managers, MSA Systems ensures growth and provides sufficient platform and scalability to secure wide range networks. Intuitive workflows, seamless integration and setup wizards allows for easier configuration and installation.

WLANs can be made secure if you are smart in integrating wireless with your wired enterprise, leveraging your existing security tools and selecting appropriate security technologies from just the basic 802.11 security to VPNs. Solutions which are based on the new generation wireless encryption protocols allows you to control and manage devices which tries to use your Wi-Fi network.

Wireless Network Security

With the MSA systems wireless network solution which offers support to various concurrent WLAN security options, multiple WLANs can be created with each one of them having its own security settings. This may range from WEP networks for legacy platforms and open guest WLAN networks to combinations of WPA and/or WPA2 security configurations. The main configuration items used are, the WLAN SSID and the WLC interface to which the WLAN is mapped. Deploying any type of network in a secure manner is always a balancing act, creating a secure platform and ensuring that every device that tries to access the network is scrutinized.
